I didn't really get a material Christmas gift that I wanted, rather I think I finally have a remedy for migraines, worked well on Christmas Eve and I am tickled, the migraine hasn't come back! So what did you get that was your favorite?

Well, I only got the one thing, so the DS Lite is my favorite material present.

But like you, I seem to have a remedy for that headache that lasts for two and three days (thanks, dad), and spending the day with my nephew and playing with his toys was awesome.

I didn't get anything(very serious)because we are down to one paycheck (as I am on a medical leave from work), and so we couldn't afford Christmas this year.
What I really wanted was a Coach handbag, but I guess it wasn't meant to be.Oh well.Plus my aching neck is still a pain that I have to deal with everyday.:verysad:

I got a Canon MP530 all in one. We have had the same printer for about 7 years and my scanner didnt even work so I am pretty excited to have a real printer that I can acually scan and print photos on. :)

The looks on the faces of:

My wife when she saw her kayak and her sapphire bracelet
My oldest daughter when she found her new car
my two youngest when they opened their rollerblades.

You mean people actually DO give cars for Christmas? My family's been laughing at the luxury car commercials these past weeks (you know, where they show the car in the driveway with a huge ribbon around it and the giant bow on top) thinking it doesn't happen. Well, well, well. Live and learn.

I learned today that my dad really wanted to get me a car, but couldnt afford it with all the renovations to the house. I cant believe that he feels bad for not buying me a $25,000 present. Ridiculous!

At the same time, he thinks that $300 was too much for me to spend on them. Double standards, I tell ya...

Hey Squiddy....I really wanted to get you a $50,000 car but then I realized I couldn't afford it neither! LOL

So where's my $300 gift? :p

*Seriously, that was really sweet of your Dad....;) *

What color? The kid got the new red one to replace the original ds that she had. They came out with the lite 1 month after she got the first one. So now I get the old one and she got the shiny new red one.

I laugh at those, too
My daughter just turned 21, her birthday is 10 days away from Christmas, so the car was a combination birthday and Christmas gift, and it was NOT a luxury car.
Neither did it have a big bow on it, she got to assist in the fun of car shopping. Just another one of those life lessons I try to take my kids through.

That is so sweet! :) I would have to agree with you, Dan! There is nothing like the looks on your kids faces when they open their presents! :woot: The bracelet my husband gave me helped, too! ;)

I got a printer to replace my old one, a nice Bulova watch, and a gift certificate to Sephora. I think my husband's got the art of practical gift combined with something a little more fun down pat! LOL The nicest Christmas present though was watching my kid have a blast w/ his grandparents! He's turning their house upside down and they just love it! :)

My MIL gave me her Kitchenaid stand mixer that she did not really like. It's not the one I wanted but I'll be happy with it as long as it can handle my bread making. They also gave me some money. So, since those are the only two things I got...they would be my favorite. :)

If it's one with the 4.5 quart bowl, be careful with the bread dough when you make a two loaf recipe -- sometimes it "crawls" up the dough hook and makes a mess.

It is the 4.5 Qt bowl. I know that I can only use 6 cups of whole wheat flour. That is what my recipe calls for too. Maybe I will split it in half. Make one loaf at a time. But then, I'll be making bread all the time. LOL I had my eye on the professional 6 qt mixer. But, this is nice. :)

You can do two loaves at once. It's just that you need to keep an eye on the mixer and when the dough starts crawling up, stop and reposition. After you see this a couple times, you'll get a sense for it. If this is the KitchenAid Classic, its official capacity (according to the instruction manual) is 8 cups flour.

**** added later ****
I checked my recipe -- from Tasajara -- and I'm using 5 1/2 cups whole wheat flour. The basic recipe was 8 cups, which made a horrible mess of my mixer and kitchen, so I scaled it back to 2/3, and now it's okay.
