Hi, I recently purchased a 42" Plasma widescreen tv. I set my dvd player to 16:9 ratio, but when i insert a WS movie I still see the Black top and bottom ( I think it is call letterbox, not sure) I was thinking if you have a Widescreen tv and play a WS movie then the movie picture would fill the whole tv viewing area. Is this not so? or do I need to configure something else. I am using Componet Cables for the video. Thanks- Ron

Ok, i think I figured out my own question: I have been doing some research on this topic and found that if the DVD movie was filmed on a higher aspect ratio such as 18:9 or 20:9, anything higher than 16:9 then you will see the black bars. If anyone else has any other thoughts, I will greatly accept them. :)
