Book marked & added to my TO DO LIST. Thanks...

I'm curious to know if anyone has had problems with sending texts for freebies...

Do they send you "spam" texts, sell your number off to other companies, etc.?

thanks in advance!

I have missed out on many freebies because I have been afraid of sending texts and turning my cell phone into the garbage dump one of my email boxes has become.

Any advice on how to know when it is safe to text for a freebie?

I don't think there is a true way to tell if something is Spam. But you can research a litlle through the searchbar. Most well known products should have advertisements somewhere.

When it comes to text messages, I have unlimited texting, so one day I gave it a try. The few I have tried never sent me spam. It's almost like you're playing ping pong though. You text them, they text you, you answer them and so on. :)

hmmm....still on the fence about it but I greatly appreciate all of your feedback

My husband does any texting for me on his phone (I don't have one), and I know he wouldn't do it if there were any chance of problems, so I'd have to assume it's OK.

Re the UPCs above, one of them is a number short, no?

I was just about to say that, it looks like the 9 should be repeated before the last three numbers.

I got these off another site (one is the same, other is different)

839977009323
839977009231

I got spam twice only, but they have the option to text back "stop" and you wont get anymore.

I use a work cell phone, and was a bit worried about getting Spam, but with shoptext (the 467467 number), I haven't gotten any spam at all. I would recommend for people doing this for the first time that you register your number on shoptext.com first.

Do you have to text the upc codes and the word CLEARASIL to the number? thanks

If you read the thumbnail provided in this thread says to text Clearasil and "BE READY TO PUT IN A UPC CODE" . This is when they text you back!

Thanks for the clarification on when to enter the UPC codes, I've never done this type of freebie before so appreciate learning how to go about it.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but is it the first 1000 to send the initial text, or who go through the texting back and forth with UPC code and address, etc?

Has anyone ever had problems using TracFone and texting?
