Dual Layer DVD-+RW Drives - Good/Bad News

Basically saying Dual Layer DVDRW Drives solves the problem of "backing up" an entire DVD without taking off quality or features, however the Dual Layer DVD-Rs don't work on all DVD players or DVD-Roms.

I find it funny that the MEDIA SHARK SONY are some of the first ones to release DL firmware so that their older drives may support DL, also they were also one of the firsts to release DL drives.

But weren't they also the ones trying to make things harder to back-up? From Music CD's, PSX, and their DVD's?

It's funny, before I read this thread, I just finished reading the article. Makes me glad I got the NEC ND-1300A for $33 and not a pricey sub-$100 dual-layer unit.
